Where will residents go during relocation?

Residents will stay at the Jackson Park Terrace Townhomes (5 minutes north) or in a vacant unit at Island Terrace, based on household size, availability, and accessibility needs. Please find more information about Jackson Park Terrace here.

What can I expect for the relocation process?

Residents will receive a phone call from our building relocation specialist to set up an interview learn more about personal household needs followed by an in-unit inspection. Residents will receive a 30-day notice that confirms the date the resident will move to their relocation unit. The relocation specialist will provide moving supplies. POAH will hire movers to assist residents to move their things from Island Terrace to their relocation unit. Residents can expect to be relocated for at least 8 weeks.

Where can I pick up my medication during construction?

Residents should work with their delivery service provider to ensure that medication gets to their unit door. Please note that the post office is arranging for pickup of large packages at their office on 61st Street. People with delivery from other delivery services should plan to pick up any packages delivered immediately. Staff cannot store and guarantee the security of packages while the first floor is being remodeled. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please see the management office.

How does relocation affect CHA voucher holders?

Relocation won’t affect residents CHA voucher, but they will need to complete a Request for Tenancy Approval (RTA) packet. This packet helps ensure that the new unit meets CHA standards. Management will assist residents in filling out your RTA packet when it’s their turn to relocate.

Who should I contact if there is an issue in my relocation unit?

What can I expect in my unit after construction/after relocation?
  • New remodeled bathroom with new lighting and fixtures
  • New remodeled kitchen, with additional cabinets and countertop space, new appliances
  • New windows, new building-provided, year-round air conditioning unit
  • New wall finishes below the windows
  • New flooring throughout the unit
  • New light fixtures  
  • New cable and fiber broadband wiring
  • New entry doors
  • New lighting, flooring and finishes in the corridors outside your unit

What can I expect as building amenities after construction/after relocation?
